History

The Victorian Sculling Association (VSA) is an Incorporated Association. The VSA conducts the Winter Sculling Series for scullers who register with the VSA in order to participate in the Series. The Winter Sculling Series has been run by volunteers since 1914, and the Herald Shield Perpetual Trophy has been awarded since 1927.

There is a newspaper cutting regarding the Victorian Amateur Sculling Association 10 mile Marathon held in 1936. Note that this event involved 2 circuits of a 5 mile course from Princes Bridge around Herring Island and back. The clipping is attached below.
