Head of the Merrimack

Published Thu 17 Sep 2020

Now the wintersculling series is over, the Victorian Sculling Association is offering you an adventure.

Why stay stuck in boring old Victoria now that the head racing season is upon us, autumn is happening in the northern hemisphere, where it's getting cooler while things are hotting up here?

We're planning a series of head races in more exotic locations.

"Fall" is just starting in New England USA, beautiful leaves along the rivers and in Massachusetts the Head of the Merrimack is in September.Course is 5000m, course/.

This week you can row it as 1x, 2x or 4x. Just nominate your crew by email before Saturday, but ask them first!

We will all row the same distance and the process will be to apply an age correction to each time to get us all on the same page. Once times are corrected, for crew boats we will average the times of the members to get a result for the boat. You might like to see if you can "game" the system by who you recruit as team members... There are some advantages to being old.

Raw times will be reported for all, corrected times within classes. Times to be emailed in by 12 noon Saturday as usual.

Good luck.
